My work has generally focused on images of the internal body: the beauty and functionality of the individual parts and the lovely efficiency of the body as a whole. One of the primary interests fueling my imagery is the concept of microcosm reflecting macrocosm. The chemistry of blood and seawater is almost identical; veins, trees, and rivers all follow a similar branching pattern, a tendency called arborescence. We are microcosms made of hearts and bones and blood; we are tugged by the phases of the moon, the seasonal shrink and stretch of daylight hours, the macrocosm in which we live. It is my intense curiosity about these patterns that keeps me working.
