Gatherings was my two-woman exhibition with sculptor Linda Holland at the Open Space Visitor Center, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, May 1 – June 28, 2009. Linda and I both work in paper, with very different results! We designed this exhibit around the idea of Open Space as a gathering place for species of all kinds: mammal, avian, and botanical. Sky Nest and Nesting Instinct were created out of downed/found branches collected in the Rio Grande river bosque (with Open Space permission, of course!). Nesting Instinct was a prototype project for Bower, which I exhibited in The Dowser Married the Alchemist. The installation River/Bed is a family antique that I covered with “stones” and altered salt cedar whips. To see more of Linda’s work, visit her website, LindaHollandStudio.com.
