Fiber Arts

I have no formal training in fiber arts - but I really love to sew. I have created two full-size appliqué quilts, using batiks that I developed. I have also made two kid’s quilts. My interest in sewing and stitches spills into my 2-dimensional work (see Lunar Mathematics in Mixed Media, and Piecemeal in Etchings) and my interest in bookbinding.

I was first introduced to book binding in college. Over the last ten years I have developed my own particular binding technique, which leaves the stitches in the spine exposed. It’s fairly time consuming but also meditative. I am happy to create books on commission; please contact me for details.
